Northfield City Government is Working. Let’s Keep It That Way.

I’m Mayor Rhonda Pownell. I’m running for re-election to continue the progress we’ve made together. The primary election is on August 13th, and the general election is on November 5th. I hope to earn your vote.

My Commitment

  • Civility in leadership and respectful debate
  • Collaboration across all sectors of our community
  • Consistent progress on our shared goals

For the past eight years as your mayor, I’ve led with these principles, bringing people together to find common ground and move Northfield forward. Our city government is functioning well, with all hands on deck; the City Council, staff, and those serving on boards and commissions are all working together effectively.

Why This Matters

Civility and collaboration aren’t just nice-to-haves – they’re essential for effective governance. When we take the time to listen to each other, and work together respectfully, we achieve real results. Our progress on housing, economic development, and infrastructure demonstrates that a functioning, cohesive city government directly impacts our quality of life — and Northfield’s future prosperity.

Looking Ahead

There’s more work to be done. Together, we can:

  • Strengthen our local economy
  • Promote belonging and inclusion
  • Address property tax concerns
  • Enhance our infrastructure
  • Implement key climate adaptation initiatives

Vote for me to keep Northfield’s momentum going. Let’s continue to make our city an even better place to live, work, and thrive.
